One of the greatest things you can do for yourself is to be physically active.  We say this all the time because it is true:  Exercise is the fountain of youth!  The list of benefits from regular physical basis is almost too long for one article.

Some of the most important benefits of exercise are:

        Weight loss
    •    More energy
    •    Better sleep
    •    Better health
    •    Less anxiety and depression
    •    Improved sex life

Most of us know how good it feels when we are active, yet why is it so hard to stick with a regular exercise routine?  There are probably as many reasons as there are individuals, but there is one strategy you can use right at the beginning to increase your chances of becoming a regular exerciser.

An Exercise Plan you Can Stick With

The best strategy you can follow when starting an exercise plan is to start slow.  This may sound too good to be true, but it’s actually not an easy thing to do.  Usually when we decide to start exercising it’s because something has happened that gets us excited and motivated to exercise.  Dreams of running marathons or how you will look at your class reunion will drive you to overdo it.

The result?  Either you hate it or you get injured.   Next thing you know it has been weeks or months (or years!) since you’ve exercised.

This time……do it right.  Start slow (even embarrassingly slow if need be), but do it consistently.  Every day.  Since “life happens” for all of us, every day may end up being 5 or 6 days a week, but by staying consistent you can establish a base of fitness that will be easy to build on.

Get moving.  You will be glad you did!

How did something seemingly as simple as eating a healthy diet get so complicated?  Organic vs. non-organic, grass fed vs. corn fed, farmed vs. wild fish? Are potatoes good or bad for you? What about low-fat dairy?  How can orange juice be bad for you?  There are experts (real and self proclaimed) on both... Read the full blog

For decades, one of the accepted facts of the weight loss industry was that cutting your calorie intake by 3500 calories would result in one pound weight loss.  This is where the idea that cutting food intake by 500 calories a day leads to one pound of weight loss per week.  That certainly sounds...
